Routine Immunisation Schedule

The routine vaccinations offered to your child to protect them from serious diseases.
Last updated: 5 September 2026
What it is about
The NHS offers a series of routine vaccinations to protect your child against serious, preventable diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough, and meningitis.
What is involved
You will need to take your child to their GP practice for their infant and toddler vaccinations. Later vaccinations (like HPV) are often given at school.
Timeframes
The primary childhood appointments are scheduled for when your child is:
- 8 weeks old
- 12 weeks old
- 16 weeks old
- 1 year old (on or after their first birthday)
- 18 months old (for children born on or after 1 July 2024)
- 3 years and 4 months old (or soon after)
What you benefit from
These vaccines safely and effectively build your child's immunity. For example, the 8-week appointment includes the 6-in-1 vaccine (DTaP/IPV/Hib/HepB), MenB, and Rotavirus drops.
